A. Overview of the Job Search Check-In Simulation

The self-practice Job Search Check-in module helps students maintain accountability and momentum during a job search with SMART goals, progress tracking and early alerts for students who are stuck or need support.

B. What To Expect

There are three structured components to the Job Search Check-in Assignment, which include:

  1. Baseline Call: Students will target roles & plan

  2. Check-in(s) Call: Series of check-ins to review and set goals

  3. Final Call: Helps to confirm and guide next steps


C. Steps to Create a Job Search Check-In Assignment

1. Start from Home

2. Enter Practice Mode

  • From the Home page, click Practice Mode.

  • You can also use the left-hand sidebar to access Practice Mode directly.

  • On the Practice Mode screen, select Job Search Check-In to begin setting up your simulation.


3. Create Job Search Check-In Simulation

Part 1: Enter Job Search Details and Dates

1. Give your Simulation a Name

  • Enter a clear, descriptive name (e.g., Job Search for Co-Op - February 2026).

  • This is a required field.

2. Enter a Description

  • Provide a short description for your simulation.

  • Example: This is to practice job search for my co-op starting in February 2026.

  • This is a required field.

3. Baseline & Goal Setting Call

  • The Baseline & Goal Setting Call allows you to discuss upcoming experiences and set goals.

  • Ensure this call is toggled on as it provides a baseline to the subsequent calls to follow.

  • Review the Baseline Call questions to establish a starting point, goals and challenges.

4. Progress Check-in Call(s)

  • The Progress Check-in call allows you to provide updates and receive guidance during the check-in calls.

  • You can add additional Progress Calls based on the total number of check-ins you would like your student to experience.

  • Review the Progress Call questions. These will help track progress, reinforce goals and identify new challenges.

    • It is recommended to repeat baseline questions for continuity.

5. Wrap-Up Call

  • The Wrap-Up call allows you to reflect on your job search journey and receive final guidance.

  • Review the Wrap-Up Call questions. These will help you reflect on the overall journey, outcomes and lessons learned.

    • It is recommended to repeat baseline/progress questions for closure.

After completing all setup fields, click Deploy to reach the Review stage. This is your final checkpoint before launching the assignment.

⚠️ Important: Once you click Deploy, not all fields can be edited. Double‑check all details before finalizing.

4. Launch Your Career Simulation

Part 2: Start your simulation

1. Select Your Simulation Character

  • Select from several options: Nina, David, Myra, John or Ava.

  • On subsequent calls you can choose to remain with the same character or speak to someone else that will retain the information discussed in previous calls.


2. Before you start your simulation, you can click the downward arrow to configure Web Call options, such as:

  • Toggle Show my video on or off

  • Toggle Show avatar video on or off

3. When you are ready, click on Start Web Call Now to launch the simulation in your browser. Or, you have the option of receiving a phone call.

  • A Confidentiality and Data Sharing window will appear for you to read the general reminders on Confidentiality, Data Sharing and Deletion & Retention.

  • Click Agree and Continue to launch into the Web Call.

4. If you prefer to receive a phone call, you can click Call Me Now.

  • A Confidentiality and Data Sharing window will appear for you to read the general reminders on Confidentiality, Data Sharing and Deletion & Retention.

  • Click Agree and Continue to launch into the Web Call.

  • You will need to enter your Phone Number and agree to receiving a one-time verification code with SMS.

  • Click Verify Number to receive the call and start your simulation.
