We have made some changes to the resume assist feature! You can now create a fully templated resume directly from InStage within a matter of minutes and ensure it aligns with the job you are applying for.

VIDEO WALKTHROUGH:

STEPS:

Step 1: Select The Job Prep Simulation. To get started with the resume or cover letter assist feature, you will need to select Job Prep and enter in the details of a job you are trying to apply for. This helps us compare your resume to a specific job title/description to give you the most tailored resume and cover letter.

Remember that you can copy and paste jobs and descriptions directly into the platform, create your own, or use one of the recommended near by jobs if there are any available.

Step 2. Upload Existing Resume/ Cover Letter Or Create Your Own. Just below the job description field, there will be am option to upload or create a resume and/ or cover letter.

If you already have a resume, you can drag and drop it into the upload box and it will parse it for the relevant information. If you do not have one, click on the "create" button and fill out the form.

Once your resume and/or cover letter is uploaded, you can click "Generate" in the bottom right.

Step 3. Go To Resume or Cover Letter Assist Tab. At the top of your screen, you will see tabs for resume and cover letter assist. Click on those to get started tailoring your resume and cover letters.

Here you will be able to see a score breakdown of how well your resume or cover letter aligns with the job posting.

Step 4. Improve With AI. Once you see what sections need the most attention, you can select the tab for that section and start rewriting it.

Once you are satisfied with the rewrite, you can insert it, save it, and regenerate your score at the top to see the improvement. It is important to read it over to make sure it is accurate as the rewrite will generally give you a guideline on what a good section may look like.

Step 5. Template Resume (Optional). Once you are satisfied with your score and contents of the resume, you have the option to add it to directly into a templated format by simply going through each section and clicking "Add To Template".

To view the template, simply select "Template" and choose a format that you would like to use. (Note that the previewed template may not be 100% accurate, formatting wise, until exported.)

Step 6. Repeat for All Sections. You can go through each section and rewrite it, generate your new score, and add it to the template. You can also enter in the details manually if you choose to do so.

Step 7. Download as DocX (Optional). If you did want to use one of our templates, once you are finished, you can download it as a docx and open it in word or google docs and make any final tweaks before exporting as a pdf for your application. In the end, it will look something like this.

Remember to read over each AI-written section before submitting your application! This is a tool to help you create your resume quicker but you will still need to review them.

Also, if you already have a resume template, you can skip the templating section and simply follow steps 1-4 for each section and then copy the output back into your personal resume template.
