Getting Started with InStage: Resume & Interview Practice

🔑 Step 1: Sign-Up and Login

Ask your organization for an InStage Sign-Up link and create your account

📄 Step 2: Use Resume Assist

A. Open Resume Assist

Click on the Resume Assist tab on your dashboard.

B. Update Your Profile

Choose either to:

  1. Manually enter your experiences, education, and skills

  2. Upload an existing resume, and InStage will automatically populate your profile

🛡️ Note: Your data is secure and not used to train AI. It’s for your use only.

C. Match to a Job Posting

  1. Find a job you’re interested in (e.g., on Indeed)

  2. Click Create Resume

  3. Copy/Paste:

    • The job title in the title field

    • The full job description in the description field

InStage will:

  • Score your match to the job

  • Show strengths and improvement areas

D. Improve Your Score

Review the suggestions (e.g., missing education info or keywords) and update your profile.

E. Use the AI Rewrite Tool (Optional)

Use this tool to:

  • Formalize your descriptions

  • Expand or shorten details

Make sure to adjust the AI suggestions to fit your voice.

F. Download & Finalize

Once satisfied, scroll down to download your new resume as a Word document. You can also generate a cover letter.

You can repeat this process for as many jobs as you’d like!


🎤 Step 3: Mock Interview Practice

A. Open Mock Interview

Click on the Mock Interview tab.

B. Choose a Job

You can:

  • Select a job from the built-in list, or

  • Copy/Paste a job title and description (just like Resume Assist)

C. Set Your Practice Schedule

Choose your start and due dates to stay on track.

D. Customize Interview Questions (Optional)

You can:

  • Add specific questions (e.g., technical or behavioural)

  • Adjust the interviewer’s tone (e.g., friendly or formal)

E. Start Your Interview

Choose between:

  • Web call (like Zoom but audio only)

  • Phone call (enter your phone number and receive a practice call)

You can pause, retry, and repeat interviews as many times as you want.


📊 Step 4: Review Your Feedback

After each interview, you’ll receive:

  • A performance summary

  • Specific feedback on each question

  • A transcript and audio playback

You can save your best attempt and revisit anytime.

💡 Tips for Success

  • Use the Google Chrome web browser

  • Make sure to have a working microphone if using the Web Call option

  • Practice for multiple jobs using unique resumes and interviews

  • Customize your resume for each role to increase match score

  • Use the AI tools to polish your language - but always review!

  • Practice interviews with different tones and question types
